Questions to be addressed
- What are the opportunities afforded by current and future genomics data?
- How do we utilize data from model species such as Arabidopsis?
- What are strong and/or special attributes of the Compositae?
- What are the (unique) research opportunities for the Compositae?
- What is currently limiting research on the Compositae?
- How do we address these limitations?
- What resources are needed?
- What are the short, medium and long-term priorities?
- How do we establish benchmarks and metrics for progress towards meeting these priorities?
- How do we communicate effectively between Compositae researchers?
- How do we coordinate research across diverse Compositae species?
- Should we form a formal steering committee?
- What database resources are needed?
- How do we develop controlled vocabularies to facilitate searches across databases?
- How and when should we sequence which Compositae species?
- Should we focus on crop and weedy species or should there be a major effort to develop a small-genome model for the Compositae?
- What are the funding opportunities for the Compositae?
- Who are the stakeholders and what is their political influence?
- Who are the key people to be kept informed of research on the Compositae?
- What are the opportunities relative to the new funding initiatives being directed to bioenergy?
- What additions need to be made to the draft of the white paper and by who?
- Others??
These questions and others suggested by meeting participants will be the basis of an on-line questionnaire after the meeting. This information will be used to redraft the whitepaper.
